A chance sadly missed
In my other role, as a parent blogger, I was recently contacted by an agency working with a big name TV presenter who was working on the relaunch of a big name internet sites video channel. An online series about parenting was being made, they had a load of Mums to talk to but wanted a Dad, would I be interested? Well of course the answer was yes but in the end the logistics proved too … Read entire article »

Mr Wenger is turning into Mrs Thatcher
By the time 1997 rolled around Margaret Thatcher hadn’t been the PM for 7 years and was now a Baroness. Although it must be said she staunchly demanded people called her “Lady Thatcher” and not “Baroness Thatcher” because Baroness was a German title. The signs of being a bit doo-lally were already evident when she attended the unveiling of British Airways new livery designs for it’s aircraft, specifically the tailfins. Fire at Batchwood sports centre, St Albans
UPDATE Some more mainstream media reports of the fire at Batchwood sports centre are now surfacing: Herts Advertiser St Albans Review Over night Batchwood sports centre in St Albans, Herts, pretty much burnt down. There is an adjacent nightclub and since the statement on the local council website says nobody was hurt, at this stage it seems plausible to assume the fire started after the club had closed for the night. The fire is not thought at this stage to be linked to any of the ongoing rioting around the country. Batchwoods is set well back from the road so there shouldn’t be any additional disturbance other than the ongoing roadworks by the entrance. The council press release is on their site, which is being updated as new information comes in. Tune in to our local … Read entire article »
