Socks!

There are few things in life as confusing as men and there socks. I never seem to have a matching pair but thats because they go into the washing machine together and one is eaten by the machine. This only appears to happen to my socks too, nobody else in our house is affected. So I end up buying a bazillion pairs every year, getting a load for Christmas (bah humbug!) and if I’m unlucky enough to get some that are patterned, I invariably end up wearing a pair that don’t match. Well, it’s not my fault. … Read entire article »

An average week

Sunday evenings are a funny old time. I’m one of those old fashioned types that thinks Mondays are the first day of the week. And for me, that makes the waning of Sunday a bit of a funny one. The working week has finished two days past and the weekend has usually been a busy one. What then does the next week have to offer? Monday- recover from the weekend Tuesday- catch up on the work that should have been done on Monday Wednesday- work hard til lunch time, that mentally celebrate that the half way point has happened Thursday- struggle to work as the last few days catch up Friday- mad rush of work in the morning, petering out to futility by about 3pm Saturday- groggy due to staying up to an ill advised hour and … Read entire article »

Wifey has found increasingly that half way through a large shop, middle aged man gets a place in the queue holding a couple of items. He is only a place marker because ten minutes later when he is near the front, his battle axe of a wife appears with a huge trolley load of junk, causing much consternation amongst those honest shoppers who … Read entire article »

Music Box

When I was younger I wasn’t really interested in music, I couldn’t see the point. Much better to have an story tape to listen to on long car journeys. I used to love long car rides as I got Alice in Wonderland, Wind in the Willows, Treasure Island or some Paddington Bear. My disinterest in music probably wasn’t helped by my parents taste in music either. My dad tended to listen to Nana Mouskouri, The Carpenters, the New Seekers and Simon & Garfunkel. Simon and Garfunkel are excellent, so in that he had great taste but when you’re under 5 you wouldn’t appreciate it. My mum was a huge Cliff Richard fan. Nuff said there. Since I was born in 1975 and can clearly remember the first  two albums I … Read entire article »
